Provides Proven Leadership for Cleveland
As one of three Cuyahoga County Commissioners, Jane represents
1.4 million people in Greater Cleveland. Jane currently manages
human services, economic development, infrastructure development
and redevelopment for the County.
Jane believes that we must meet our challenges by working together.
She has spearheaded Cuyahoga Countys public private partnership
efforts. Here are the results of her work:
- Dedicated over $25 million to brownfield redevelopment funds
to assist in the revitalization of our blighted neighborhoods
- Created housing and development opportunities in Cleveland with
the issuance of bonds to finance National Terminals, the Waterstreet
Apartments, Gateway and the Cleveland Browns Stadium Project.
- Committed over $3 million to assist over 850 households through
home buyer down payment assistance loans and home weatherization
grants
- Successfully transitioned over 31,400 families from welfare
to work
- Created the nationally recognized Children Who Witness Violence
program to minimize the effects of violence on youth
- Provided loans to 148 companies to create 3,000 new jobs in
our community
- Created the Early Childhood Initiative to create a safety net
for children ages 1 to 18, through Welcome Home, Early Start,

Jane cares deeply about working families. Not just with words,
but with action. As a state representative, Jane drafted legislation
to provide comprehensive supports to children and families. Some
examples include:
- Amendments to the child support law requiring genetic testing
to determine paternity
- Creation of the Child Support Most Wanted Poster
- Visitation rights and the opportunity to redress judgements
- Instrumental in the creation of the Adult Care Licensing Bill
in effort to ensure quality services for the aged, blind and disabled.
- Constructed legislation to make ethnic intimidation an offense
in the State of Ohio
