With our web site, we want you to understand why I am running for Mayor of Cleveland. But we want to do more than that. I also want to explain the direction I believe that we, as Clevelanders, must take to keep our city vibrant and alive.

Times have changed. But our politics haven't. We are still mired in old disputes, Personality Politics of the worst sort. This is an important point. My goal is not just to win the election, but to change the way politics is conducted in Cleveland.

That's why the theme of my campaign is Cleveland Connections...Connecting to Each Other, Connecting with the Future. The challenges we face -- more important -- the challenges our children and seniors face -- are too complex for simple, canned campaign slogans. No public official, no neighborhood group, no agency of government can meet these challenges alone. We must learn to work together, or we will suffer the misery of the consequences.

Together, we can find pragmatic solutions to our most difficult challenges: neighborhood crime, failing schools, and creating new job opportunities. Why am I so confident?
